How an Evergreen garden office enhances hybrid working

Updated: Sep 25

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 made working from home the norm for millions.

Even with the return to “normal” working, many companies still operate a hybrid work pattern.

That means staff come into the office on staggered days throughout the week or month.

Information from the Office For National Statistics highlights that;

“In February 2022, 84% of workers who had to work from home because of the coronavirus pandemic said they planned to carry out a mix of working at home and in their place of work in the future.”

It’s a way of working that most employees seem to like.

Many cite that days are longer (in a good way) when working from home.

However, most also welcome maintaining personal contact with colleagues when in the office.

The recent and ongoing rail strikes have also been less disruptive because working from home is well-established.

One of the challenges for hybrid workers is having a space at home from where they can work productively.

Not all have the luxury of a home office or study in which to work.

Survey results published on the website of The Home Office Life highlight;

28% of respondents work in their study

27% of respondents work from their living room

17% of respondents work in their bedroom

Other locations cited included dining rooms, kitchens, hallways and even bathrooms.

If you don’t have a dedicated work area in your home, a place where you can keep things in order, what can you do?

If you own a house with a garden, you can use some of your outside space to create an office.

We have designed and installed dozens of high-quality steel-framed structures for this purpose.

Dependent on space and budget, you might also use your garden room as a gym or include storage to create more space in your home.

Lighting and heating plus heavy insulation provide year-round use.

Two other big attractions of our garden rooms are;

• Planning permission is not required.

• Speed. We bring prefabricated walls, flooring and roof materials and put them together on-site (usually in three to four weeks).
